Re-designing a consulting company's website and establishing a brand identity.
Viridis Consulting is a boutique consultancy firm specializing in the clean energy industry. They have more than 50 years of combined team experience in clean energy strategy.
Over a span of 2 months, I implemented website redesigns, including implementing a company brand style guide. I achieved this through open communication with the client, understanding their business goals to create meaningful designs, and creating mockups of page redesigns to generate feedback for design iterations.
Role: UI Designer, Content Designer
Client: Viridis Consulting
Duration: 2 months
Tools: Illustrator, Figma
Frameworks: Style Guide, Website Design, UI Design, Content Design, Mockups, Client Management
The current website had no consistency in visual branding. The current content poorly communicated the professionalism and expertise of the company.
Redesign the website with better informational architecture, content design, and implement a consistent visual brand that reflects the company's values.
Business Goals: As a small firm, the client is constantly focusing on networking and business development in order to find new work. Their goal for the website is to be a landing page that they can redirect potential clients to that showcases the expertise and unique offerings of the firm.
Project Goals: As a designer, my goal is to evaluate the current efficacy of the website, and provide design solutions that will satisfy the client's vision for their company brand and achieve an increase in business opportunities for the firm.

Project Goals: As a designer, my goal is to evaluate the current efficacy of the website, and provide design solutions that will satisfy the client's vision for their company brand and achieve an increase in business opportunities for the firm.
First and foremost, I established the company's brand style guide because the client did not already have one. I consolidated all of the client's existing assets, such as their logo and color preference.
The client wanted their visual brand to represent their name, "Viridis", which is a Latin word meaning green and fresh to represent their role as professionals in the clean energy industry, and their mission to transform the world to a greener future. With this in mind, I created a modern, clean brand style that visually invokes their values and mission.
"As a potential client, I want to be able to quickly learn about this firm's relevant qualifications. Currently, this is information is hard to navigate to."
"The website doesn’t scale responsively on my cell phone. Everything looks cramped and small making it hard to skim if I looked it up at a networking event."
I rearranged the content design of the "Projects" page to focus on highlighting the company's past projects (aka their relevant qualifications). Working with the president, I had her list out all the top projects from past clients, as well as key words to highlight the type of work and type of client for each client. These projects arranged in a grid make it easy to skim.
I redesigned the images and sections to responsively scale to the device size. I also double-checked all other components on the website to ensure that they scale according to the device size.
Throughout the process of redesigning the website, I learned how communicate and justify my design decisions to the client in a way that was easily understandable. I also enjoyed the back and forth conversations with the client to understand what their vision and goals were, and how to deliver to their expectations. It was a challenging, yet rewarding process to create a final product that they were satisfied with.
